Our Children and Youth Programs

Summer Program

During July and August we will be exploring some of our favourite and 'big' stories in the Bible.  Children ages 3+ are welcome to join us Sunday mornings downstairs at 10am.  We will join the congregation at the Exchange of the Peace.

Please see the News & Events section for a list of upcoming morning themes.

Fall & Winter Program

Beginnig Sunday September 12, 2010 (children & youth ages 3+)

Around The Table
Learning, Exploring and Discovering Our Faith Together

Join us Sunday mornings at 10am in the chapel as we gather around the table to explore our faith, learn new things about church, God, and ourselves.  Following our gathering we will go downstairs and divide into smaller groups (usually by age) for a bible story, lesson or craft.  Visitors are most welcome to join us.  Children will join the congregation at the Exchange of the Peace.

Nursery

The well-appointed nursery downstairs is open every Sunday.  It is not staffed at this time.

Children's Area

There is a small area at the back of the church for the very young and nursing mothers.  Books and age-appropriate toys are available and a washroom is close by.

Boys' and Girls' Choirs

The Boys' Choir (about 24 boys aged 7 to 14) forms the treble section of the Choir of Gentlemen & Boys.  They attend practice twice a week and are responsible for one or two Sunday services per week, in addition to major festivals.

The Girls' Choir is an integral part of the Women & Girls Choir.  They practice on Wednesdays from 6pm to 8pm.  The Women & Girls Choir is responsible for one of the Sunday liturgies per month.  They often combine with the Choir of Gentlemen & Boys for concerts and major festivals.

Youth Group

St. Matthew's youth group is a place for young people to meet, have fun, explore their faith and build lifelong friendships.  We welcome teens in grades 7-12 and meet on average twice a month.

We participate in a variety of activities such as scavenger hunts, movie nights, cooking, bowling, or just hanging out and discussing our faith and issues of interest.  We are active participants in the liturgical life of the church, in choirs, as scripture readers, servers, and we also plan to lead on or two services this year.  We assist in many outreach projects and host an annual fundraising dinner which is usually held at the end of May.

Come join us for our next meeting and see what we're all about!  For more information please contact Tara at st.matthewsyouth@rogers.com

Youth group resumes after a summer break on Sunday September 12, 2010 at 6.30pm in the youth room.  See you then!
